Lose the label, find the child. Reframing Aspergers.

“It’s time to take joy in everything that our kids are.”- Dan Pearce. Single Dad Laughing So you have a child with Aspergers. If you are looking for sympathy you’re in the wrong place.  If you are looking for empathy and a way to release yourself and your child from destructive victim energy, you’re right on time; you’re perfectly aligned. Diversity is everything. It brings beauty, it builds love, it facilitates change; it’s a crucial part of evolution. Believing that divergence is a problem is the real problem. I was I thought, brimming with full bodied love for my precious ones. And then one day I had an epiphany.  It was a little biblical; a bolt of […]

Flying solo: Solitude and the child.

As adults we know that solitude, or time to be alone, is crucial to our overall health and well being; its pivotal to becoming mindful. Becoming mindful brings with it a whole host of valuable tools with which to navigate life with. Along with physical exercise, yoga, meditation, healthy eating, adequate sleep and sufficient relaxation we have accepted that we as parents and adults need space to recuperate, reboot, access our creativity and generally just be a nicer, balanced, happier, authentic person! However, when it comes to the child its almost as though as soon as they are out of the womb we are in a flurry to socialise them; integrate them into society.  We become obsessed with their apparent need for […]
